Using Projects

Projects help you organize samples for specific jobs, clients, or use cases—and are required to place an order on Material Bank.

Why Projects are required

Every order must be associated with a Project. This helps:

  • Organize your samples by job or client

  • Ensure accurate delivery and fulfillment

  • Connect your orders to real-world use cases

Create a Project

You can create a Project while browsing or ordering samples.

  1. Open the Project dropdown on a sample page

  2. Select Create Project

  3. Complete the required fields:

    • Project Name

    • Project Type

    • Project Phase

    • Project Location

    • Description (minimum 20 characters)

Once created, you can reuse the Project for future orders.

What to include in your Project

Providing accurate Project details helps ensure your samples align with your project needs and allows brands to better support your request.

When creating a Project, include:

  • Project name

  • Project type

  • Project phase

  • Project location

  • A brief description of your project

Why this matters

Project information is shared with brand partners to help them understand your use case and provide the most relevant materials.

Use a Project when ordering

Before adding samples to your cart, make sure a Project is selected.

  • Choose an existing Project

  • Or create a new one directly from the sample page

If no Project is selected, you won’t be able to add items to your cart.

Manage your Projects

From your Projects page, you can:

  • View all Projects

  • Rename or update details

  • Archive or unarchive Projects

Tips

  • Create separate Projects for different clients or jobs

  • Use clear names so you can easily find them later

  • Update Project details as your work progresses

Troubleshooting

If you’re unable to add samples to your cart, check that:

  • A Project is selected

  • All required Project fields are completed

If you’re still having trouble, share your Project name and we’ll help take a look.
